🤖 Google bets big on "ChatGPT killer"
4/8/23
Good morning and welcome to the latest issue of neonpulse!
Here are the AI headlines making waves:
🌊 Airpods get an AI update
🌊 Google bets big on a ChatGPT killer
Let’s get into it!
AI in your Airpods
One of the most innovative creators in the AI space in Aaron Ng.
He frequently comes out with the coolest AI products, including one that allows you to have conversations with your favorite books, and his latest project “Apollo” is equally as impressive.
By hooking ChatGPT up to a set of Airpods, he’s created an AI that allows you to receive answers to your questions directly in your headphones, without ever needing to look at a screen.
“Tools like Apollo close the gap between curiosity and investigation, allowing us to get smarter in real time,” said Aaron.
“If augmented reality is an overlay on the world, this is augmented intelligence- an overlay on your conversions, thoughts and questions.”
Really cool stuff.

A new ChatGPT killer?
AI startup Anthropic has big goals.
Instead of building products with the ChatGPT API like everyone else, they’ve decided to compete head on with OpenAI with plans to build an AI 10 times more capable than anything in existence today.
In order to accomplish this the company has raised a total of $1 billion dollars to date, with the hopes of raising an additional $300 million in the near future to help fund the development of their new “Frontier” AI model.
Started by the former VP of research at OpenAI, Anthropic describes their frontier model as a “next-gen algorithm for AI self-teaching,” which could be used to build virtual assistants that can answer emails, write books, perform research, and more.
“These models could begin to automate large portions of the economy,” the pitch deck reads.
“We believe that companies that train the best 2025/26 models will be too far ahead for anyone to catch up in subsequent cycles.”
Google has pledged $300 million in for a 10% stake in the company, meaning that Google and Microsoft (through it’s stake in OpenAI) are going to be waging a war over the coming years to become the dominant player in AI.
Let the battle of the AI’s begin.
Want to stop being tracked while you surf the web?
Then you need to set yourself up with a VPN.
If you’re not familiar, a VPN is like an encrypted tunnel for your online activity, making your data invisible to hackers and allowing you to browse the web in peace.
And while there are a ton of VPN’s out there, I personally use NordVPN, which I consider to be the bee’s knees of VPN’s.
NordVPN is consistently ranked as the #1 VPN by PCMag, Forbes, Wired, and TechAdvisor, and the best thing about it is that you can connect up to 6 devices on one plan, meaning that you can protect your entire household with a single account.
So unless you suffer from a kink that involves having your credit card info stolen while you browse the web, you should get yourself setup with a shiny new VPN from Nord here.
