“Only AI can beat AI”
Grene Robotics, a Hyderabad-based deep tech and robotics company, has unveiled Indrajaal, the world's first autonomous, wide-area counter-drone system. This system has the ability to "detect, identify, classify, track, and swiftly neutralize threats in real-time."
Grene Robotics specializes in crafting AI-driven autonomous systems for defense, enterprise, and government sectors, emphasizing self-management and adaptive learning capabilities that allow the systems to evolve as per changing circumstances.
Kiran Raju, CEO of Grene Robotics, along with Wg Cdr Sai Mallela, the company's director and co-founder of Indrajaal, recently showcased the system at their 79-acre test facility and Research and Development center on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Wg Cdr Sai Mallela demonstrated how this AI-driven marvel can swiftly detect enemy drones, seize control, and autonomously redirect them to their point of origin.
The system has not only bolstered defense capabilities, but also showcased the potential of customization through machine learning and deep learning methods. Indrajaal operates on a combination mechanism similar to LEGO blocks, integrating 12 layers of technology powered by AI.
Company officials assert that Indrajaal can cover an expansive area of up to 4,000 square kilometers, providing a 360-degree shield against various threats, including drones of different altitudes, loitering munitions, smart bombs, and more. Unlike existing point-defense anti-UAV systems, Indrajaal leverages AI to outmatch evolving threats.
Through integration with local aviation and military systems, Indrajaal distinguishes between friend and foe, classifying the detected drones. It can simultaneously track and intercept multiple drones, employing predictive algorithms for precise weapon engagement. In cases where a drone poses a potential threat, Indrajaal activates its countermeasures.
Wg Cdr Sai Mallela addressed concerns about system vulnerability, assuring that Indrajaal operates as a closed circuit, isolated from external connections. The system employs secure communication data links with advanced encryption standards, conforming to military requirements.
Grene Robotics has already shared proposals for Indrajaal deployment under the Make-II and Make-III protocols of defense procurement procedures. The system's applicability extends beyond the military to paramilitary forces, industry sectors like oil and gas, and critical infrastructure.
As trials and experiences continue, Indrajaal represents a promising stride towards fortifying countries’ defense capabilities in the face of evolving threats.
