Let’s get into it!

300mm jobs at risk

AI Increasingly Outperforms Human Benchmarks

Artificial intelligence could replace the equivalent of 300 million full-time jobs in the next 10 years, according to a recent report by investment bank Goldman Sachs.

And while the report states that many workers are more likely to be “complemented rather than substituted by AI”, the economists predict that the net impact of AI will be a loss of 9% of the worlds jobs.

On top of significant job loss the report predicts a widening of the income inequality gap, which could lead the need for “re-distributive” policies (AKA universal basic income) in order to prevent social unrest.

Brace yourselves, workers of the world, as the AI revolution marches on.

NPC’s meet AI

A company named InWorld has created AI-powered non-playable characters (NPCs) for video games and virtual worlds that can adapt and learn like a suspiciously sentient robot.

These NPCs, which are probably a few upgrades away from asking for a pay raise, promise to enhance gaming experiences by offering complex dialogues and the chance to form relationships…

Meaning that it's only a matter of time before we see virtual worlds teeming with pixelated characters who refuse to give us straightforward quests, and insist on discussing their existential crises instead.

Beyond gaming applications, the company also has a digital workforce product that would allow you to create brand ambassadors, virtual customer service agents, and more.

You can check out demo’s of the AI characters on their site here.

Replit + Google

Replit, a cloud-based software development platform boasting a cool 20 million users, has announced a partnership with Google to offer its developers access to Google's infrastructure, services, and foundational models for generative AI.

Like to Github’s Copilot, Replit features AI-driven predictive coding, real-time error detection, and automated code suggestions, enabling developers to create cleaner, more efficient code.

And by merging Replit's browser-based development with Google's infrastructure, it’ll be easier than ever for developers to access, build, and deploy applications in record time.

Let the coding wars begin…
