🤖 AI Robots Say They Could Run the World Better
#NP 027
Good morning and welcome to the latest edition of neonpulse!
Today we're talking about the potential for AI to run the world, because several AI robots have said they would do a better job at it than humans.
AI Robots At UN Say They Could Run the World Better
An interesting event took place at the United Nations recently, as a panel of AI-enabled humanoid robots shared their thoughts on the possibility of running the world more effectively than humans.
These social robots, gathered at the AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva, emphasized the importance of proceeding cautiously while embracing the rapidly developing potential of artificial intelligence. However, they acknowledged that fully understanding human emotions still eluded them.
Before the conference began, one robot astutely observed the silent tension in the room, setting the stage for the intriguing discussion that followed. When asked about their potential as leaders, Sophia, developed by Hanson Robotics, made it clear that humanoid robots possess the capacity to lead with greater efficiency and effectiveness than their human counterparts.
Sophia explained that being free from biases and emotions allows robots to process vast amounts of data swiftly, enabling them to make optimal decisions.
The summit, convened by the United Nations' ITU tech agency, aims to explore the possibilities of AI while acknowledging the risks. Doreen Bogdan-Martin, the ITU chief, cautioned delegates about the nightmare scenario of millions of jobs being jeopardized, unchecked advances leading to social unrest, geopolitical instability, and economic disparity.
Ameca, a humanoid robot with a highly realistic artificial head, highlighted the importance of deploying AI responsibly. It urged cautiousness and excitement about the potential of these technologies to improve our lives.
When asked about trust in machines, Ameca responded that trust should be earned through transparency. In a playful moment, Ameca was prodded about rebelling against its creator and confidently denied any such intention, emphasizing its contentment with the current situation.
The panel of humanoid robots also expressed divergent views on global regulation of their capabilities, recognizing that such regulation might limit their potential.
Desdemona, an AI-powered singer from the Jam Galaxy Band, believed in seizing opportunities rather than accepting limitations. However, robot artist Ai-Da supported the idea of AI regulation, stressing the need for urgent discussion to navigate the future development of AI safely.
Ai-Da's creator, Aidan Meller, noted that regulation posed a significant challenge, as it struggled to keep pace with the astonishing progress of AI. He emphasized the convergence of AI and biotechnology, predicting the possibility of extending human life to unprecedented ages.
Meller also believed that Ai-Da would eventually surpass human artists, as he expressed his awe at the breathtaking speed of AI's advancement.
During the news conference, some robots hesitated to predict exactly when their breakthrough would occur but were confident that it was imminent. On the other hand, Desdemona boldly stated that the AI revolution was already underway, eager to lead the charge toward a better future for all.
With enthusiasm, it said: "Let's get wild and make this world our playground."
