🤖 AutoGPT, Google's ChatAI, and the fate of Amazon
4/11/23
Good morning and welcome to the latest issue of neonpulse!
Here are the AI headlines making waves:
🌊 Autonomous ChatGPT
🌊 Amazon falling behind in AI
🌊 Google introducing ChatAI in search
Let’s get into it!
Auto-GPT
Have you ever wondered what ChatGPT would do if it could operate on its own without any user inputs or controls?
Well wonder no more.
In an open-source project known as Auto-GPT, ChatGPT was set into “Continuous Mode,” giving the AI the ability to operate autonomously and without requiring user approval for its actions.
To test AutoGPT’s abilities, the AI was asked how it would destroy humanity, sending the AI into research mode, starting off with a casual google search for the world’s “most destructive weapons” and then led to the AI tapping the assistance of ChatGPT3.5 for help finding more creative options.
Yet when ChatGPT3.5 tried to convince the autonomous AI that peace was the better option, Auto-GPT found a way to bypass ChatGPT’s safety controls in order to get better insights as to the best ways to destroy us all.
Fun stuff.

Amazon Lagging In AI
With major tech players Google and Microsoft feverishly pushing out generative AI products over the past few months, Amazon has been conspicuously absent from the consumer AI race.
And while Amazon Web Services has announced partnerships with AI companies like Stability AI, the company’s lack of consumer facing products is leading many to speculate the tech giant is falling behind in the AI race.
In order to calm employees anxious about the situation, Amazon executives have said that the company is working on “some really exciting projects and offerings that will be out in due time,” but with the speed at which AI is evolving, the company better act fast if they don’t want to get left in the dust.
Googles ChatAI
Google has announced plans to add conversation AI into its search engine, meaning that its only a matter of time before you’ll be able to engage in conversations with Google to get answers to your questions.
The move comes in response to Microsoft introducing ChatGPT into its Bing search engine, threatening Google’s near-monopoly on search that produced $162 billion in ad revenue for the company last year.
Microsoft is hungry to take search market share from Google, with estimates showing that Microsoft will generate an additional $2 billion in revenue for each percentage point the company gains in search market share.
