🤖 ChatGPT just got an upgrade
#NP 053
Good morning and welcome to the latest edition of neonpulse!
Today, we have two topics on the menu: ChatGPT’s new update, and Apple’s stance on AI. Let’s get into it!
ChatGPT just got an upgrade
OpenAI has been improving ChatGPT. The most recent updates aim to create smoother and more productive conversations with the bot.
In an announcement today, OpenAI introduced a user-friendly update for ChatGPT. To facilitate creative ideation, users are now greeted with suggested prompts when opening the ChatGPT window.
We’re rolling out a bunch of small updates to improve the ChatGPT experience. Shipping over the next week:
1. Prompt examples: A blank page can be intimidating. At the beginning of a new chat, you’ll now see examples to help you get started.
2. Suggested replies: Go deeper with… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…— OpenAI (@OpenAI)

One notable improvement is the bot's ability to engage in natural back-and-forth conversation, thanks to follow-up questions and responses integrated into the system. This feature has already proven successful in Microsoft Bing's GPT-powered version and is now being integrated into OpenAI's chatbot.
‘Plus’ can now enjoy full integration with the more advanced GPT-4 model for a monthly fee of $20. Previously, chats would revert to the less capable GPT-3.5 once users logged out. The new model boasts enhanced capabilities, albeit at a slightly slower speed.
Another exciting development is the support for multiple file uploads in the Code Interpreter. This can now work with multiple files at the same time.
Though ChatGPT still has room for improvement in accuracy and transparency, OpenAI is actively working on this. It still remains the most-used chatbot out there, with over 100 million users.

Apple CEO explains why it doesn’t showboat with AI
Apple's recent earnings call stood out due to the absence of any discussion about AI, until an analyst raised the topic during the Q&A portion.
CEO Tim Cook acknowledged the significance of AI, stating it as a fundamental technology integrated into many Apple products. Features such as live voicemails, voice replication, automatic crash detection, and fall detection rely on AI. The company has been investing in various AI technologies, including generative AI, for years.
Despite the importance of AI to Apple's products, Cook asserted that their focus is on announcing products when they are ready for consumers, rather than boasting about AI efforts. This approach aligns with Apple's brand identity, emphasizing a customer-centric approach rather than highlighting the technical aspects of their innovations.
In contrast to Apple's minimal mentions of AI, other tech giants like Alphabet, Microsoft, and Meta Platforms prominently discuss AI during their earnings calls. Amazon falls somewhere in between, with a moderate number of mentions of AI during its earnings calls.
