Let’s get into it!
AI on the battlefield
In case you were worried that you would never have the chance to experience robotic warfare outside of a sci-fi movie, fear not, as controversial data analytics firm Palantir has just released their latest AI tech designed to help power the future of warfare.
The company’s Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) is designed to help military personnel make informed battle decisions with real-time data, allowing the system’s operators to order drone reconnaissance, generate plans of attack, and organize the jamming of enemy communications through a ChatGPT-style interface.
And while Palantir has stated that they’re committed to ensuring that their military AI is "totally ethical," many worry about weaponization of AI and the implications that follow.
So as we march into a future where AI will be calling the shots on the battlefield, let's hope that Palantir can come through on its promise of ethical AI.
You can watch a demo of the technology in action here.
Tutors of the future
Welcome to the future, where our AI overlords teach your kids to read and Bill Gates is their headmaster.
In a recent interview, the tech tycoon predicted that AI chatbots will be teaching children to read in the very near future, and will help provide tutoring assistance to chldren in subjects like math and science.
"In the next year and a half, every 5-year-old will have an AI reading buddy," said Gates, pointing out that the AI-powered education revolution could particularly benefit low-income areas where schools often lack resources.
And for any teachers around the world concerned that ChatGPT might one day take their job, Gates reassured that "AI won’t replace the teacher, but will become a fantastic tool for the teacher."
Looking forward, when this type of AI education technology is paired with a service like Starlink satellite internet, this will drive a profound improvement in the availability of education in lower income countries around the world.
