eBook: How to minimize third-party risk with vendor management
A robust vendor management program isn’t just required by compliance frameworks like SOC 2 and ISO 27001. It’s also a critical part of a holistic trust management strategy.
Implementing a vendor management program, however, has become more complex and challenging with the proliferation of SaaS tools and shadow IT. And many overstretched security teams are being asked to do more with less.
To stay compliant and secure — and deepen trust with customers and partners — security teams need a way to proactively manage vendor risk.
This guide from Vanta, the leading trust management platform, brings together perspectives from the frontlines of vendor security management. Get insights and best practices from security and compliance leaders.
Microsoft FINALLY Joins OpenAI Board
The last couple of weeks have been nothing short of crazy at OpenAI. Following Sam Altman’s firing and then return as CEO, the company has completely changed its leadership and has finally added its biggest investor, Microsoft, as a non-voting observer on its board.
Amidst the drama, Sam Altman keeps his position as CEO, accompanied by co-founder Greg Brockman, who steps back into the role of President. Mira Murati, who briefly took the reins as interim CEO, returns to her role as Chief Technology Officer. The decision to add Microsoft to the board prompts questions about why this wasn't the case earlier.
The fresh board lineup includes Bret Taylor, former Salesforce CEO, as the chair. Larry Summers, former Clinton Treasury Secretary, joins in, alongside Adam D'Angelo, Quora's co-founder and CEO. D'Angelo's presence raises eyebrows due to potential conflicts, given Quora's relationship with OpenAI.
Altman tackles the rumors head-on, addressing concerns about D'Angelo's role. He explains that Quora, as a substantial OpenAI customer, benefits from customer representation on the board. Altman emphasizes D'Angelo's transparency regarding potential conflicts and his willingness to step down if needed.
I recognize that during this process some questions were raised about Adam’s potential conflict of interest running Quora and Poe while being on the OpenAI Board. For the record, I want to state that Adam has always been very clear with me and the Board about the potential… twitter.com/i/web/status/1…

Altman also touched on the misunderstandings that led to his initial departure, expressing zero ill will towards Ilya Sutskever, the former board member reportedly involved in his ouster. Altman acknowledges working towards a resolution that allows Sutskever to continue his contributions to OpenAI.
Bret Taylor, the new Chair of the board, assures stakeholders that OpenAI is committed to reinforcing its governance structure. An independent committee of the board will oversee a review of recent events, aiming to ensure stability and clarity moving forward.
As OpenAI charts its course forward, these changes reflect a commitment to transparency, stability, and effective governance. The next few months will most certainly be interesting…
