OpenAI Has Quietly Changed Its Company Values
OpenAI has just made subtle but significant changes to its core values, as can be seen on its careers page. Previously, their core values were:
audacious
thoughtful
unpretentious
impact-driven
collaborative
growth-oriented
However, the iteration introduces a new set of values:
AGI focus
intense and scrappys
scale
make something people love
team spirit
While some of the old values seem to have a new equivalent, other seem to have come out of nowhere. An interesting addition is "AGI focus". AGI, or artificial general intelligence, represents a form of AI with the potential to comprehend, learn, and execute tasks at a human level.
According to Sam Altman, co-founder and CEO of OpenAI, AGI is like having a capable human co-worker. Altman shared some of his insights into AGI in a recent interview with the New Yorker.
The timeline for achieving AGI remains a topic of debate among experts. Geoffrey Hinton, often referred to as the “Godfather of AI”, suggests it could take up to two decades to fully develop.
As of now, OpenAI has not issued an official response to inquiries regarding these changes.
