Snapchats AI dumpster fire
Last week Snapchat launched a new AI chatbot feature to it’s 750 million users, but people have not responded to the new AI functionality the way that CEO Evan Spiegel had hoped.
Since the chatbot launched, 75% of Snapchat reviews on the Apple App Store have been one-star, compared to only 35% of reviews being 1 star in the past, not exactly the reception the company was looking for.
One of the primary drivers of complaints is the fact that the new AI chatbot is pinned to the top of the app, taking up precious real estate that people typically reserve for talking with their actual friends, which is the main reason that people use Snapchat to begin with.
And while we can expect the company to work on improving the user experience of the new chatbot over time, considering the fact that they did an early launch to millions of users during testing, it’s shocking to see a company as large as Snapchat launch a product that so many of its customers clearly hate.
Runway AI
Generative AI company Runway has just launched a new suite of AI-powered content creation tools, allowing you to transform anything you can imagine into high quality video and photo content.
You can think of Runway like a futuristic version of Adobe Photoshop, with a suite of AI tools allowing you to do a whole bunch of cool stuff:
Turn any image, video clip or text prompt into high-def video
Quickly and easily remove anyone or anything from videos
Remix the style and composition of any image, and more
It’s hard to describe in words all the amazing things Runway’s new tools allow you to create, so I definitely recommend checking out their website here.
DisneyAI
Long known for pioneering ground breaking film technologies, including releasing the first fully animated film in 1937, Disney is once hard at work developing the next generation AI film technologies in order to increase the range of roles that it’s film stars can play in future films.
The initial goal of the new AI technology being developed by Disney is allow the studio to change the appearance of the actors in its films, and in some cases, completely replace them.
The images are above show Disney’s de-aging technology at work in the latest Indiana Jones film, greatly opening up the range of roles that actors can play in future films.
But the even more interesting implications of this new technology is that in the near future, famous actors will be completely replicated by AI, allowing actors license their image for feature films without the need to film a single scene…
Opening up the possibiltiy that our favorite movie stars will be featured in new films, even after they pass away.
