AI is making waves in the music world, with new tools allowing anyone to create hit pop songs with top artists voices that blur the lines between human and machine-made music…
Making the future of pop stars less certain than ever.
The recent hit song “Heart on my sleeve” was produced with digital recreations of the voices of Drake and the Weeknd and was streamed millions of times before record label executives went into full panic mode, rushing to have the song pulled from Spotify and Apple music.
And while some in the music world are in denial over the looming AI revolution, including famed producer Tony Visconti who believes that "there are many things a computer doesn’t know about human emotions and how they’re connected to music,” It’s only a matter of time before every new pop song is produced by the new technology.
By analyzing the most popular hit songs, an AI will be able to distill the elements of a song that makes it so loved, transforming the data into an algorithm for virality that will turn out hit after hit.
And by training an AI on their catalog of work, hit pop stars won’t even need to sing or write their own songs anymore.
They’ll simply write a sentence or two about what they want their song to be about, and the AI will go to work creating the perfect lyrics based on their prior work, followed with an AI re-creation of their voice singing the song, in one take, pitch perfect.
Meaning that the future of a pop star may simply be to go on tour to sing hit songs that an AI wrote and produced, freeing up a lot more time for them to party and live the good life.
In the meantime, enjoy your human generated tunes while you still can, because the day is coming when you’ll find yourself humming along to the synthetic beats of the "AI Top 40."
AI Anxiety
Move over social anxiety and say hello to the new kid on the block: AI anxiety.
AI Anxiety is gnawing fear that AI is going to snatch away our jobs and leave us in the unemployment line, a fear that is becoming increasingly more widespread following the continuous waves of workers being replaced with tools like ChatGPT.
"I'm amazed at how quickly ChatGPT has become so sophisticated," said Claire, a 34-year-old working in public relations.
"Give it a few more years, and I can absolutely imagine a world in which a bot does my job just as well as I can. I hate to think what that might mean for my employability."
AI is rapidly surpassing human performance
And shes not wrong.
According to a study from Goldman Sachs, up to 300 million full time jobs could be automated with the new technology, making it critical to find ways to harness the new technology in order to remain competitive in the new job market we find ourselves in.
And while many are beginning to understand the importance of using tools like ChatGPT to boost their productivity, others remain cautiously optimistic that the human touch will prevail.
"I think a lot of creatives are concerned," said 29-year-old Alys Marshall, a UK-based copywriter.
"We're all just hoping that our clients will recognize our value, and choose the authenticity of a human over the price and convenience of AI tools."
